A great drawing that shows us that artistic license can be a very beautiful thing.

Sometimes copying a photo isn't good enough, sometimes you feel that you should change a piece slightly or make it different in some way than the thing you got it from.. This is called using your artistic license.

I could go on and on about how the nose's bridge is drawn incorrectly or how the bottom of the chin is not the same shape as the original, but I don't have to because this piece works as a whole and looks like a new person while still retaining it's realism. I feel as if the eyes are Staring into my soul. It really is quite beautiful.

My only real critiques would be that the ends of the hair seem a bit more stylised than the rest of the piece, as does the right hand side of the fabric of the chair which I think should be a slight bit darker bearing in mind the two-point lighting the photographer used for the reference photo.

I look forward to seeing where this artist develops their drawing style into, since this drawing shows me that they definitely have a very large amount of talent to play around with <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" title=":D (Big Grin)"/>
